Our research is focused on three primary areas:
Epidemiology of cerebrovascular disease in HIV infection: We are studying the role of traditional and novel stroke risk factors in HIV-associated cerebrovascular disease, with an eye toward developing preventive and therapeutic strategies to improve cerebrovascular and cognitive health of persons living with HIV.
Sex and race disparities in cerebrovascular risk in HIV infection: Our research has characterized sex and race differences in cerebrovascular risk and its contribution to cognitive function in persons living with HIV. We are working to identify and address mechanisms driving these observed disparities.
Treatment strategies for CNS tuberculosis: Our work aims to improve neurologic and functional outcomes for survivors of tuberculous meningitis and other forms of tuberculosis of the nervous system.
